If it weren’t such a quick read, once I convinced myself to go on reading it, it would have been truly miserable. As a corollary, i assumed that i would like Madeleine Wickham’s writing as well. I still vividly remember many of her books because the characters walk off the pages into the realm or reality. Their first of the month cocktail meetings are held as a release with friends.

Madeleine Wickham on Apple Books

A friend of mine gave me this book for xmas, and I finally got around to reading it a couple weeks ago. It was alright, but I don’t think I would read it a second time and it will be going in the ‘for Goodwill’ pile. The heroines’ stories unfold after the first such meeting and the reader finds out that Maggie is compafna to have a baby at any moment, Si is about to run into a ghost from her family’s sordid past and Roxanne is in a mysterious relationship with a married man.
